2013 - Living the Change

Craving the Change and Living IT !!
(I'm posting this here because I KNOW Mary would want me to,  she would be so happy and so proud - I can hear her all the way from Heaven - cheering and smiling and jumping all around with excitement)

Are you sick and tired of feeling sluggish, disgusting, not 100%, unhealthy, like an overall slob?

Tired of saying "one of these days... I'll get healthy!"

Well I am!  I'm taking my life back!  AND, I'm not doing this alone - my hubby is in on this with me.  Thank goodness!

My husband and I wrote (& signed) a personal contract in October to ourselves - it's a contract about making a commitment to make different choices - choices that will make a difference in living a healthier life.   Little changes turn into big changes one little change at a time.  One day at a time.  One choice at a time!

Here's the beginning to my choices:

*I quit smoking in October (after 22 years!!). So far so good.  Seems my true intention is working with me.

*I tried my first juice on Friday, December 21, 2012.
The Energy Bee ~ included carrot, pear, green apple, honey bee & ginseng.  Yummy! Surprisingly sweet.... Just what I needed to win me over - sweet!
 *ordered our own personal juicer (after a week of hardcore research and analysis - something chad is an expert in - its the Virgo side of him!!)
 *i tried my Second juice on Wednesday, December 26th, 2012.
The Green Monster ~ included kale, spinach, green apple, ginger, spiralina & lemon (I added the lemon - the greens scared me).  Surprisingly I liked it - I liked it a lot! ;) tasted like green lemonade.
 *I tried my 3rd juice today... 12/27/12. the Booster ~ pineapple, lemon, apple & barley Greens

CHAD & JEN's beginning:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
12/29/12 - (Day 1)
*our 1st homemade juice:
Carrots, green apple, lemon & ginger
12/30/12 - (Day 2)
*Today's juice: kale, green apple, pineapple, celery, ginger root & lemon ~ mmm, not bad!
Dare i do no coffee today?!?
Okay I gave  in - I had a shot of coffee
As we were making a delicious broiled chicken  sausage dinner, I pulled out the course in weight loss book & read the forward out loud.
**Seems appropriate timing to start reading Marianne Williamson's  "a Course in Weight Loss"..... Embracing change!  It's more than just losing weight - its getting healthy.  That is the reason for this change.
Dessert:
The makings for a great shake!
*Frozen banana - almond milk & nutmeg.....
12/31/12 (Day 3)
Had a couple fried eggs & toast for breakfast.  Chad had his scrambled with a pinch of cheddar & a few leaves of parsley - he only ate 1/2 slice of bread.
Green tea hot breakfast.
Read the first section of A Course in Weight Loss,  "Embarking the Journey"
*Midday we had a juice made up of celery, kale, pear, apple, pineapple, cucumber, lemon, ginger root.
Not bad!  We even got Joey McG to try it!!! Lol
(I'm thinking the greens might be a little hard on my stomach ) I had stomach aches when I would take Athletic Greens a few years ago.  I'm hoping it will take time to get used to it.
Homemade chicken soup - mmmm!
*Dessert with frozen strawberries, bananas & almond milk.....
1/1/13 (Day 4)
Happy New Year!!!
*Woke up to a juice with carrot, cucumber, lemon, ginger root and green apple.
 Not bad - a little tart, but good.
Read Lesson One "Tear Down the Wall" - this requires some pen to paper with thoughts work - to be continued....
Green tea & white pomegranate tea.
Ate a healthy dinner - leftover chicken noodle soup & lotsa water!!
I love juicing - I swear my body is screaming Thank you!!!!
1/2/13
*had a morning juice of: kale, celery, ginger root,  pear, pineapple, lemon & green apple.
Tart but good - no stomach ache.
I had a cup of coffee :( at home AND from the coffee truck guy at the train.
Progress not perfection... One thing at a time!
1/5/13 - sweet potatoes & fried eggs for breakfast (with toast of course).   Mmmm
Afternoon juice today after shopping. Green monster:
*kale, spinach, celery, cucumber, mint, green apple, lemon, pineapple & ginger root.
*Kale, spinach, mint, celery, cucumber, green apple, lemon, pineapple and ginger root!  Mmmm
Haven't stopped coffee yet but will - eventually.  I have to WANT to in order to succeed.  I did stop diet coke ;).... One vice at a time.
Banana oatmeal raw almonds & a pear throughout the day.  2 bottles water
Baked chk cutlets & broccoli with a slice of cheese.
1/8/13. - Day #11
*carrot, apple, lemon, pineapple & ginger root! Mmmm
1/9/13 feeling great and still loving this change.  Hard to believe...
I was "junk food Jeni for 40 years" or "I got this body from junk food button wearer" - I did a 360!
Morning juice:
*kale, spinach, carrot, mint, apple, cucumber, pineapple, lemon, ginger root.
Oatmeal at work.
I HAD my FIRST wheat grass at 2:30 - wowsie!!  Yuk - the OJ chaser was necessary - made that moment of. " ewwww" disappear as if it never happened.  I felt great!
I ordered steed dumplings with chicken and with brown rice. Good but had to eat the whole plate to fill the empty stomach.  Kinda bland - they offered up a sauce I'm not sure what it was..
Had chk in garlic sauce for dinner & a bowl full of fresh pineapple before bed / wasn't planning this but kept eating it as it was being cut - I was a savage actually - sucking the pineapple core as if I was dying of thirst on a deserted island - pretty comical to watch - I was kinda laughing at myself as I was feasting.... Lol!  Having fun ;)
1/10/13
*kale, spinach, lemon, cucumber, lemon, mint, ginger root and apple WITH a teaspoon of Athletic Greens!
Wow- very very green today !
Banana, oatmeal & almonds.
1/11/13
*kale, beet, cucumber, mint, ginger root, apple,  parsley and a teaspoon of  athletic greens..
Coffee - started using the so delicious brand of  vanilla flavored almond milk creamer.  Not bad for non dairy.  Much better for me than those coffee mate & international coffee creamers.
Crazy with the beet!!
Green tea & banana.
Walked along the NYC above ground park (Hi-line) from  w.23rd to w. 15 to the Yogurt Cafe for some steed dumplings the to the farmers market in Union Square for a shot of wheatgrass and then to work at 4th Sve & 14th - a GREAT day!!!!
Almonds....
Friday is our traditional "Green Cactus" order - had chk enchiladas.
Water wAter & more water!  Even got some compliments on my skin.
I feel GREAT!
Tart from the grapefruit, green thicker from the red swiss chard, but good.
Gratitude
Unlock The Power Of Manifesting Change-Gratitude
The true power of gratitude is in finding gratitude in the most difficult and darkest areas of one's life.  Feeling gratitude for the everyday obvious things is not enough and only just the beginning.  Gratitude must extend to the parts of our lives where we find the most struggle and pain.  The things that really hurt us the most.
When we can be honest and indentify the sources of our pain and struggle we then can become aware that those issues that we carry are not really a part of us.  Instead they are ideals that we behold to that we created out an idea of self that we have always been trying to live up to.
Once you realize that those very issues are attached to the concept of you, you understand that those attachments are what actually keeps the false-self and ego alive.  Coming to understand and know this allows you to let them go and shed ego.  By letting go you are removing resistance. It is that attachment that has created resistance between you connecting with your true essence and souls purpose.  You are not an idea of you.  You are you, not your thoughts; I am who I am.
What was pain and anguish can become a source to be grateful for.  All of our struggles are lessons for us to be guided and teach us what we are here to learn.  By looking in the darkest areas of our self we enable us to shed the most light and become the catalyst for deep everlasting change created by an internal shift.
